KSE-100 rebounds 779 points to close at 165,931

Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange’s benchmark KSE-100 index closed Wednesday’s session sharply higher, gaining 779.34 points or 0.47 per cent to finish at 165,930.98, as buying returned across key sectors following Tuesday’s steep 814-point slide.

The rebound came on the back of renewed investor interest in banking, oil, and cement stocks, which led the rally and lifted the market back into positive territory. Market watchers said value-hunting by institutional investors drove the recovery after the previous session’s profit-taking.

The index had opened the day on a firm note and remained in the green throughout, with the intraday trend reflecting confidence among traders. The previous close stood at 165,151.64.

Analysts noted that the market’s swift bounce-back suggests underlying sentiment remains constructive despite the recent volatility. ‘Investors treated Tuesday’s dip as a buying opportunity,’ one Karachi-based broker said.

Trading activity was healthy, with investors now watching corporate results and macroeconomic cues for direction in the coming sessions. The rebound keeps the benchmark within touching distance of its recent highs, as the PSX continues to draw interest from local and foreign participants alike.
